Tristan turns 30 today.
It is an arbitrary milestone; I’ll never know when he was actually born in the year, and the year is also a best guess. But 19 years ago, I picked this date because it was my grandmother’s birthday. So today we celebrate.

My life has gotten substantially more complicated in the last two years, and substantially more difficult. I’d like to write about it some time, but I measure my free time in 15 minute increments. Today started before dawn and will hopefully end by midnight.
I am going to walk away from everything and spend time at lunch at the barn, in a way I haven’t been able to in a long time. He is happily retired, he is well cared-for, he is in good health, but I need to stop letting him fall down my priority list.

Here’s to doing better, to 19 years of partnership, and to the sassiest 30 year old mustang around.

It’s so good to hear any update from you, even though I certainly understand letting blogging fall by the wayside when your life gets extra complicated. I hope it’s good complicated, and happy birthday to Tristan! 30 is such an incredible milestone for a horse!
